Every one of our employees is committed to working safely as well
as efficiently, ensuring our work more than meets our clients'
expectations.
Since 1993, when our safety program
received a Certificate of Recognition
for passing an independent evaluation,
we have focused on creating a program
that responds to the challenges our
employees encounter on worksites. Doran
Stewart is a partner in the Injury
Reduction Program sponsored by the
Alberta government's Occupational Health
and Safety Department.
We've taken our approach
one step further, implementing a substance
abuse program that screens potential
employees and ensures current employees
are committed to working safely. The
program includes an initial screening
before an individual is hired, as well
as random testing of all our employees.
Experience has told us that only 40% of all applicants can pass a substance abuse
test, and in demanding economic times that percentage drops to 20%. Since we
introduced our substance abuse detection program, our accident history has been
reduced to one of the lowest in the industry. Employee retention has increased
and small-tool loss has dropped to an all-time low. The program is solid proof
that we're dedicated to providing a safe environment for everyone, on every job.
